Notice to destroy court records

The Principal Magistrate’s Court at Kaloleni, vide Gazette Notice dated 17th May, 2019, has issued a three months’ notice from 18th April, 2019 after which it intends to apply to the Chief Justice for leave to destroy records, books and papers of the Principal Magistrate’s Court at Kaloleni relating to :-

Criminal cases                                 filed between                                   2007 and 2014

Traffic Cases                                   filed between                                   2007 and 2014

Inquests and Miscellaneous             filed between                                   2007 and 2014

Similarly, the Senior Principal Magistrate Court at Bomet vide Gazette Notice dated 17th May, 2019, has issued a three months’ notice from 9th April, 2019 after which it intends to apply to the Chief Justice for leave to destroy the records, books and papers of the Senior Principal Magistrate’s Court at Bomet consisting of :-

Traffic cases                            filed between               2012 and 2014

Criminal cases                          filed in                         2012

Miscellaneous                          filed in                         2012

Inquest cases                           filed in                         2012

Members of the public are notified that any person desiring the return of an exhibit in any of the above cases must make his/her claim on or before three (3) months from the date of publication of the notices.

All exhibits to which no claim is substantiated before the destruction of the records shall be deemed to be part of the records for the purposes of destruction under section 4 of the Records Disposal Act, Cap 14 Laws of Kenya.
