Through a statement issued on 7th March 2021, the Acting Chief Justice Hon. Lady Justice Philomena Mwilu announced the temporary closure of Thika Environment and Land Court for fourteen days following a confirmation that three members of staff had tested positive for COVID-19. Ten members of staff at the court station have also proceeded to self-quarantine.
The Statement provides that Murang’a Environment and Land Court will attend to any urgent matters before the Thika Environment and Land Court in the intervening period.
Similarly, through a statement dated 5th March 2021, the Acting Chief Justice directed the closure of Kericho Law Courts for a period of two weeks.
The closure of Kericho Law Courts follows an investigation conducted by the State Department of Public works, which revealed structural flaws in the court building and recommended the immediate closure of the premises.
The statement provides that court users of the Kericho Law Courts will continue conducting cases virtually and court users may file documents online.
